Photosynthetic mechanism of high yield under an improved wide-narrow row planting pattern in maize

Wide-narrow row maize planting patterns are a popular way to enhance yield via improving canopy PAR. To further optimize PAR, we designed an improved wide-narrow pattern (R2) based on the principle of shortest projection length and longest illumination objects ground. Compared traditional (R1), increased by about 10% in R2. R2 had higher leaf area index, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rates than grown R1. Moreover, compared leaves R1, carbon assimilation enzymatic activities were also significantly The activity could account for rate. Thus, improve performance enhancing PAR plant canopy, which promotes ear number northeast China.
